While searching for the article on environmentalism & the Ghostbusters, I found the following. Love that old time religion!

That pile of crap required five eyerolls.

Not the first ones to say stuff like that either. Take, for example, in the earliest days of the GBHQ board we had this:

Man, talk about a bunch of up-tight Jesusfreaks. (No offense, Ron.)

And I think my reaction to this article is similar to that one:

These are probably the same people who burn Harry Potter books.  At least in Ghostbusters, only the bad guys are using magic...

Oh, wait, that doesn't matter...

Quote:
"The weapons of our warfare are not carnal" (2 Cor. 10:4) means, in part, that we can't fight the spirit world with a bunch of high-tech gadgetry.

So basically the only way Ghostbusters would've been acceptable to them is if all four were celibate monks who waved around their Bibles and crosses to stop the demons.  Brother Venkman and Brother Stantz having lustful thoughts would be way out--that would be portraying the clergy as lustful and flawed.

Gosh, that movie would probably be boring as Hell (pardon the phrase :D), but Ned Flanders would love it, right? :P

I found some of the comments more entertaining than the article.

Seems to me some people just need a life. "Oh, I don't like it, so I'm going to make sure no one else can enjoy it, either." Ugh! (at least, that's the impression I get)

The worst part about it all is that THESE people are the ones that everyone thinks of when they hear "Evangelical Christian."

I've spent my life combating this stigma from my so-called peers.

I usually have to resist the urge to go "Martin Luther" on them and condemn them as blasphemous hypocrites and then refute them using the book they don't seem to understand very well.

It seems that only the complete fuckwads of ANY group are the ones that get the media attention...and therefore become the "standard" that people think of.
