For those of you who might be, like me, going "Yeah, yeah, Mattytoys, the figures you've been putting out are neat, sure, but where's the Real Ghostbusters?"

The wait appears to be...well, not over, but entering a new phase.

Pictures at the above link of an animated likeness Venkman, abeit wearing a tan suit. But it is just a prototype.

Thanks to bobamatt at GB Fans for finding this.

He talks does he? Do you suppose he yells about wanting to blast "the spud" and refuses to give Janine her paycheck? Well, at least Egon and Winston seem to be wearing the right uniforms on the pictures of them.

What are pantleggers? And I am definately getting these as well. Do you know if anyone is taking preorders on picking up the Con exclusives? I want those but not for the $100 or more they're going to be after.

And a Janine figure! Thank you Matel! I kinda hope its not the version on the box, but I'd be happy anyway if it was.

"Pantleggers" is a term coined by Troy/Netsolo. It started when Mattel showed the prototypes of the movie figures at San Diego last year, and there was a bunch of complaining about the fact that, since all four used the same body molds, Venkman had his pant legs tucked in.

Troy started calling the whiners "pantleggers" and it's stuck, to some extent, as a term to describe people who do nothing but criticize and nitpick everything Mattel does.

Hmmm... I know I'm probably gonna get shot for complaining about anything to do with the RGB figures... but am I the only one who doesnt like the action figures with the felt clothing? I mean seriously, the sculpting of plastic clothes just looks much better than the bulging unnatural felt that they used. I'm ALL for a RGB toy line, but seriously, they should've used plastic clothes. However, I do like the design of Peter's head, the shaping looks fantastically close to the artwork of the tv show, and the proton pack appears to be a delightful RGB design with movie GB colors (which I always preferred to that blue color)

I'm sort of with you on that mick.

I completely understand preferring 6 inch plastic figures--I would have myself. But I guess part of it is being old enough to have had Megos, and part of it is...I dunno, maybe a bit excited that Mattel decided to try something a little different from both the old figures, and the current lines.

 At least you're not complaining about the proton pack. That seems to be one of the main bones of contention on GBFans and GBCentral.

These are loads more accurate than the Kenner packs, which were either bright blue or purple, and had throwers that weren't even held by the figure--they were slipped onto their arms.

I think the packs were really intended to be black anyway. It's just that, obviously, painting them black in animation makes the detail disappear completely, as black is the color of the drawing lines. A dark blue (as they were colored early on) is a common way to color things in animation and comic art that are "really" black (ie Superman does not really have dark blue hair) Yeah, they were colored brighter blue later, but that was as the animation quality declined.

lol I'm in the camp complaining about the packs. Dark blue should be the color like the cartoon. I remember it being that color, and these toys are to look like the cartoon it should be the color used. Anyways I'm likely not going to buy any of this stuff, being indebt to loans from college. The only way your get me to buy anything is to do some serious rgb ghosts like boogieman, samhain or ghash.

Close up pictures of Egon, Ray, and Winston, with some good pictures of the props they all come with. Nobody's said if Venkman comes with anything extra yet, though (the "Citizen Ghost" SDCC exclusive didn't have any extra equipment, it had a voice chip)

I've finally seen these. They were at the closest TRU, which is still about six miles away.

Apparently somebody's got a full set already, because what was left were two Venkmans and one each of Ray and Egon. No Winstons.

Unfortunately, not having much money on me at the time, I didn't get any of them. :( But if Egon's still there next week...

Post subject:  Re: First Glimpse of Retro Action Ghostbusters

It took longer than I originally expected, but it worked out for all the better in the end:

I had decided not to try to get anything like this until after the next local comic show, which was scheduled for February 27. Which, you may notice, is the very day I'm writing this post.

I went to the show, expecting/hoping that I might have enough money left over to hit the nearby Toys R Us and buy at least one or two of the Retro RGB figures.

A guy there had all four, and I managed to get a deal on all four of them, paying a good $20.00 less than I would have at the toy store, with tax and everything factored in. It meant I didn't get much of anything else there, but it was worth it.

Totally anecdotal, of course, but the seller said they've actually been selling pretty well for him. He's on like his third or fourth case. It does raise my hopes slightly that they may make more, at least a Janine and Stay Puft to keep them from being accused of false advertising.

Imagine the dirty poses I could put a faux Mego Egon and Janine in...oh my...

Post subject:  Re: First Glimpse of Retro Action Ghostbusters

Somebody posted a link to a site that sells custom Mego parts; the Retro Action line is basically Mego with the serial numbers filed off.

He mostly posted for this:
http://www.classictvtoys.com/madmonster ... gures.aspx

And this:
http://www.classictvtoys.com/8inchskeletonfigures.aspx

Which would make good monsters/ghosts for the Retro Action Ghostbusters, of course.

I think he even mentioned this:
http://www.classictvtoys.com/whitelabco ... gures.aspx

Which would look smashing on Retro Egon, I bet.

But if I decided to get more ambitious...

hm...

I could buy this:
http://www.classictvtoys.com/8inchwomen ... sbody.aspx

And these:
http://www.classictvtoys.com/bluewomens ... gures.aspx

http://www.classictvtoys.com/womensblac ... gures.aspx

Maybe these (not a lot to choose from)
http://www.classictvtoys.com/pairofwomenspinkshoes.aspx

Some extras like
http://www.classictvtoys.com/redbeadnecklace.aspx

And of course you'd need this. It even has big, gaudy earrings:
http://www.classictvtoys.com/femalewith ... dhead.aspx

I couldn't find any big, pointy glasses, though.
