Hello all,
The other day, I was simply posting in Erik Burnham's 30th anniversary thread and Tristan Jones popped in with a surprising answer, "I pitched all these ideas and was told no. I was originally approached to do a Tobin's coffee table book, but licensing said no. John Tobin was going to be the thrust of the annual, with me telling more Tobin stories like The Man Who Sought Death and Dan and Erik telling a contemporary story alongside it, but again, we were told no."
But Tristan did emphasize how the readership has a voice that IDW will listen to. So the subject of this email, is if you all are interested in a little social experiment. If something happens, good. If not, well at least we got IDW's attention.
1) Email
2) Social Media
1) The first part would be everyone emailed here, to write a quick letter to
letters@idwpublishing.com asking for a Ghostbusters annual issue and a Tobin's or PCOC coffee table book. Something to the point such as
"Dear IDW Publishing,
I am a fan of Ghostbusters and have been enjoying the ongoing comic book series so far. But I would like to inquire you to greenlight an annual issue perhaps in a long form version of Volume 1 Issue #8 where there is a contemporary story featuring the Ghostbusters and a back up featuring John Tobin and both stories intersect on a paranormal threat. Another suggestion I would like to see would be a Tobin's Spirit Guide or compilation of PCOC files coffee table book by Tristan Jones. Mr. Jones is a popular fan-favorite and his work was greatly missed when he left the title to work on his projects.
Regards,
xxx"
2) Then I would ask everyone to get on their social media accounts - Facebook, Twitter and implore your followers to do the same thing and especially with Twitter, there could be a mini-campaign done. Like tweeting @IDWPublishing and using some hashtag #MakeGBAnnual and #MakeSpiritGuide, and having your followers do the same on their accounts and retweet and what not.
Thoughts? Comments? Can we all work together on this endeavor?"
